Ran on treadmill set at 2% incline - summary displayed 4.3 vertical miles.  Still aware of left hip flexor, forced myself to do a few stretches after I was done (will have to be disciplined and get up 10 minutes earlier to give myself more time to stretch).

Started run 3 hours later than I intended. Was about 75 F, beautiful sunny day. Carried 1.5 litres of water with me. I was pretty low on energy the last 3 miles and needed more water. Hip flexor wasn’t a problem, will have to make more time to stretch every day!

Run - 1.5 hours - 06/25/2008

I did not have enough time this morning to drink some caffeine before I took off for my run, I suspect I was “sleep-running” the first mile or so. My left hip flexor was still not perfect so the first 2 miles were very slow, the next 2 miles my body realized it was awake and doing something :D, by then I was on a steady hill climb; the most challenging part of my route - I started feeling stronger but could still feel my hip flexor reminding me that it was not entirely happy. The last 2 miles are rolling hills ending in a gentle downhill all the way home, I knew my average time so far was probably 15 mph or worse, I sped up hoping I could save myself the ‘or worse’ time. Will skip strength training tonight and nurse my hip flexors and other tight muscles with some gentle stretching, followed by a not so gentle ice pack.

Run - 0.7 hours - 06/24/2008

When I got up this morning I was just as tired as I was when I got into bed. Sleepwalked to my car, halfway to the gym I realized I forgot my heart rate monitor, turned around to go and get it … the caffeine obviously had not kicked in yet. Will not have enough time to do 4 mile run, 3 miles will have to suffice for today. Ran on Treadmill set at 2% incline, I suspect I should have taken a rest day yesterday, definitely tired and achy today (mainly the hip flexors). I am hoping Pilates will sort out the knots tonight. Will also try and hit the pillows a little earlier … can’t seem to get more than 6 hours of shut eye a night.

Speed Intervals - level 5 - 3.19 miles - 153 floors. Got to the gym this morning and realized I forgot my headphones and ipod, great … got on stairmaster but left after 6 minutes … no excuses, I just want to listen to the beat of a baseline while I suffer :D

Did return to do my workout after work, definitely feeling sluggish.

Run - 2.7 hours - 6/22/2008

Got started more than an hour later than I wanted to, so most of the run was in heat. Beautiful day, clear sunny skies, ocean still smelly, maybe I am just a bit sensitive to rotting seaplant stench. I carried a disposable water bottle for first half of run and had 4 8oz water containers on fuel belt for last half. Have to adjust to wearing a fuel belt, fiddled with it for the entire run.
